How to Set Deadlines (SLA) on Workflow Steps

You can put a time limit on any step to ensure tasks do not stall.

Setting a deadline

  1. Open a workflow in edit mode
  2. Click on an Action or Branch step node
  3. In the config panel, look for "Due within"
  4. Enter a number and choose hours or days (e.g. "2 days")
  5. Optionally set "Escalate after N hours overdue" to notify the assignee's manager

How deadlines are shown

The due date appears on the task card:

  • Muted — plenty of time remaining
  • Amber — due within 24 hours
  • Red — overdue

Deadlines also appear in the admin dashboard and department workload view.

Notes

  • Deadlines are in calendar hours, not business hours
  • If no due-within is set, no deadline badge appears
  • Deadlines are computed from the moment the step is assigned
